If you are looking for a lake community with waterfront homes with a community pool, then Stonebridge Lakes may be one to put on your list. Stonebridge Lakes features two communities, the Estates and the Manor with differences being the size of the lots and the monthly HOA fee. Besides being located in the heart of Gilbert, both communities feature distinctive UDC floor plans built in the early 1990’s and a community pool in each.
One of the many Val Vista Lakes waterfront neighborhoods includes Breckenridge Bay, a townhouse complex of 60 townhouses, 37 of them are waterfront. The majority of the properties were built between 1987 – 1997. There is no community pool in Breckenridge Bay but that’s understandable because the amenity rich Val Vista Lakes club house & community center with 8 tennis courts and 2 pools is right around the corner.
Determining if a Phoenix lake community allows boating
One of the most frequently asked questions I recieve is “Does this lake community allow boating?” The second most frequent question is “How big is the lake?” We’re going to answer both of these questions. Previously, I’ve attempted to make a list of lakes where boating, kayaking, and canoeing are permitted and which lakes are larger and more conducive to boating. I’m going to share some tools with you so that you can answer these questions.
Waterfront townhouses in Gilbert are not very common, and The Islands is one of the few lake communities that offer lakeside townhomes. The Islands is one of the largest man made lakes in the east valley and a true favorite of those who enjoy boating. The Islands also boasts great proximity to the freeway, parks and shopping. It consists of three separate bodies of water which comes from the SRP watershed.
Desert Harbor in Peoria includes 8 lake communities many of which have community pools and features over 300 waterfront homes. For boating enthusiasts, Desert Harbor boasts one of the largest bodies of water, 46 acres, and some of the longest shore to shore distances of any lake community in the Phoenix area. A quick glance of the shoreline reveals numerous boat docks and pontoon boats. Interestingly, 100% of the homes in some subdivisions are on waterfront lots. The Desert Harbor communities with waterfront property include Harbor Island, Starfire Bay, Horseshoe Bay, Harbor Shores, Spinnaker Cove, Diamond Cove, and Tuscany Shores. Mays Pond is located in the southeast corner of Ray and Kyrene Roads in Chandler in the Gila Springs planned community. Predominantly single story homes, there are 14 waterfront homes in this 134 property subdivision that were constructed by Taschner. May’s Pond finds itself located within 2 miles of both the I-10 and 202 freeways, and walking distance of the Intel Chandler facility.
West of Arrowhead Lakes in Glendale is the gated lake community of Palomino. The homes were built by Shea Homes and all 109 homes are single story with 2 – 4 bedrooms with an average size of 1,900 square feet, and 61 of them are waterfront homes. The gated waterfront community of Palomino is located close to freeways, parks, Lake Pleasant to the north, and local shopping. Like many waterfront communities in the Glendale area, Palomino enjoys views of the hills north of Phoenix.
Sources of water for Phoenix lake and waterfront home communities
Many visitors are amazed that Phoenix has lake communities and waterfront homes since Arizona is in fact a desert. The next question is obviously, “Where does the water come from?”. Isn’t this a waste of scarce water resources? And if you own a waterfront home in one of the Phoenix lake communities, don’t you want to know the source of the water next to your lot? Waterfront Property at Ocotillo Lakes in Chandler
Ocotillo Lakes is located in south Chandler and features 5 lakes and is part of the Ocotillo Community Association. It is very close to many high companies such as Intel, Motorola, and Orbital and a mile from the Ocotillo Golf Resort. Homes were built between 1998 – 2000 on lots that range from 7,000 – over 13,000 square feet with living space ranging from 1,500 – 3,900 sq.ft.

In contrast to seeking out large land parcels to develop in outlying areas of the valley, Pulte has chosen to build this lake community on 28 acres in Chandler near many Chandler high tech semiconductor companies and close to the 101 & 202 freeways. There will be a total of 96 new homes, 44 of which will be waterfront homes. The Waters at Ocotillo will be part of the 2,700 acre Ocotillo master planned development which was established in 1983. The lot sizes will vary in size from 5,900 sq.ft. – 15,000 sq.ft. There will be two different Pulte series that will be built, the 4000 and 5500 series.
