Thanksgiving and Gratitude
Thanksgiving was a great day; getting together with family, ignoring caloric content, catching a movie, and being thankful for my blessings. It’s always good, even necessary, to stop and be grateful, at least for a day.
It has been said that “an ungrateful man is like a hog under a tree eating acorns, but never looking up to see where they came from.” (Timothy Dexter, The New Dictionary of Thoughts, Garden City, NY. :Standard Book Co., 1961, p. 308)
Live in Thanksgiving Daily
It seems like human nature that in the good times we are reluctant to “look up” and appreciate the source of our blessings, and unfortunately in the bad times we become frustrated because we believe that we are not getting our fair share. I recently read something that has stuck with me, which is “live in thanksgiving daily“.
That’s the real challenge. Develop an attitude of gratitude and thanksgiving that lasts 365 days a year that stays with us long after the Thanksgiving turkey is gone. The same blessings we’re grateful for on Thanksgiving will most like be there the day after, and then the next day, and the next, and the day after that (you get the idea) ….. so take time to recognize them every day! That’s my goal, to live in thanksgiving daily. The next time we talk, ask me how I’m doing and I’ll be glad to give you an update!
